April 5, 2018: According to the Academy of Pediatrics, the rate of pediatric ACL tears has increased 2.3% annually for the past 20 years. With the increased rate of incidence, it is likely most of us know a youth athlete, or know of a youth athlete, who has injured their ACL.
What is causing the increase in these injuries? Who is more susceptible? And what does recovery look like for these youth athletes—when can they return to play?
