Nonacademic or Commercial Use of APTA Publications and Website Content

ChoosePT.com
Commercial requests (e.g., for-sale courses, books, software, websites with a fee/subscription/pay wall) must be submitted in writing to APTA at permissions@apta.org. Requests must include details of the specific content (e.g., articles, physical therapist's guides, popular resources, videos, podcasts), and specific details of how the content is intended to be used.
Noncommercial use of content (e.g., handouts, CAPTE-accredited PT and PTA programs, news articles/blogs, facility websites) is permitted without permission for the purpose of linking, quoting, or reprinting, providing proper attribution is given, and with the understanding that the linking party does not imply official partnership with ChoosePT.com or endorsement by ChoosePT.com where there is none.
APTA prefers users to link to the ChoosePT.com website whenever possible, but users can reprint content for noncommercial use provided (1) A citation is prominently posted: "ChoosePT.com, the official consumer website of the American Physical Therapy Association, ©[year]." (2) A citation link to the ChoosePT.com website. (3) User agrees to publish the content as written (no editing).

Permission is not required to use OPTIMAL. Note, however, that OPTIMAL remains the copyrighted intellectual property of Physical Therapy Journal, and the following citation must be included in all uses:

APTA Logo Use

Permissions Reprint Fees and Approval
APTA evaluates and considers all permissions requests on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be in writing and submitted to permissions@apta.org. APTA charges fees for commercial use of its content, including academic CEU courses. APTA members receive a discounted rate. Users are notified of the assessed fee in writing (email), and prepayment is required before APTA's approval letter is issued.
