Dawn-Marie Ickes, PT, MPT

She takes a multi-disciplinary approach to integrating Pilates, CoreAlign, Redcord and visceral mobilization with leading edge physical therapy techniques. She is the owner of Evolve Integrative Wellness Physical Therapy and Pilates, specializing in Integrative Corrective Exercise, Performance/Dance Medicine and Women???s Health. Dawn-Marie has worked to develop education programs for fitness and health care professionals which bridge the gap between medical and movement science, creating opportunities for the ultimate continuum of care in any setting. She has been practicing physical therapy since 1996 and holds adjunct faculty positions at CSUN and MSMC Doctorate Physical Therapy programs. As an active member of the APTA, IADMS, PMA and IDEA, she has authored numerous publications including textbook chapters, literature reviews, feature articles and opinion pieces. She sits on the Editorial Board for Pilates Style Magazine and enjoys blogging about various topics related to teaching Pilates and living a balanced life. She was a founding board member of the PMA, holds a PMA Gold certification and sat on the Board of Directors for 9 years. She is proud to be Neurac/Redcord certified and enjoys teaching worldwide on topics integrating complementary therapies, movement education and mind-body practices with traditional physical therapy. She is currently participating in research studies at CSUN and USC in Dance Medicine and Balance and is conducting a pilot studies measuring the effects of sling exercise technique on core activation prior to Pilates Mat exercises and DIP (dance injury prevention) techniques for improved neuromuscular control in single limb stance with frontal plane challenge.
