APTA Spokesperson

Rachel Prusynski is an assistant professor in the Division of Physical Therapy, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, at the University of Washington, where she earned a PhD.

She has teaching and clinical experience in the United States and Haiti, spanning intensive care through community-based rehabilitation, with a focus on adults with complex medical and neurologic diagnoses and underserved geriatric communities.

Prusynski is a board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals that focus on the influence of Medicare policy on therapist staffing, therapy practice, and patient outcomes in skilled nursing facilities and home health. Her work has been funded by the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, the APTA Academy of Leadership & Innovation, and the National Institute on Aging, among others.

She serves as associate editor for PTJ: Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Journal, APTA’s scientific journal, as a member of the APTA Public Policy and Advocacy Committee, and as a delegate to the APTA’s House of Delegates.
