Scott Capozza is a physical therapist for the multidisciplinary Survivorship Clinic at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. He is Yale New Haven Hospital’s first dedicated outpatient physical therapist in oncology rehabilitation. He is also an adjunct professor for the Department of Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University, where he teaches the oncology elective and developed the department’s first-ever microcredentialing program in oncology.

Capozza is the 2022 recipient of the APTA Oncology Debbra Flomenhoft Humanitarian Award and has previously served as the Membership Engagement and Leadership Development chairperson for APTA Oncology. He has presented at the state and national levels on the importance of oncology rehabilitation as well as presented internationally about the rehabilitation needs of adolescents and young adults with cancer. His patient perspective piece, “Patient Is Otherwise Healthy,” detailing the late effects faced by adolescents and young adults, was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology Practice in 2024.

He is a board-certified clinical specialist in oncologic physical therapy. A former content writer for the oncology certification exam, he now serves as part of the Standard Setting Committee for the oncology specialization exam through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
